About the Role
Haugesund International School is an English-speaking IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students in Grades 1–10. The school's approach emphasises inquiry, integrated learning, collaboration, international-mindedness and students taking responsibility for their own learning.
The Subject Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, student-centred lessons in their specialist subject while helping students develop strong academic, social and intercultural skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in the relevant subject area.
- Align teaching and learning with the relevant IB PYP/MYP framework and school curriculum.
- Use inquiry-based and student-centred teaching strategies to encourage curiosity and critical thinking.
- Connect subject learning with real-world situations and other areas of the curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction according to students' abilities, learning needs and interests.
- Develop appropriate learning resources, activities, assignments and assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate students' academic progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Encourage students to become independent, reflective and responsible learners.
- Promote international-mindedness and respect for different cultures and perspectives.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and development.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to support interdisciplinary and integrated learning.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding students' progress where required.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events, professional development and other school activities.
- Support the school's overall mission, values and safeguarding procedures.
